City Driving Academy hopes that you find your driving lessons a rewarding and enjoyable experience and that you feel well prepared when it comes to the day of your test and for driving independently in the future.
Instruction is given using up to date teaching methods and visual aids to help you improve during each lesson.
Lessons are always on a 1:1 basis and are given in the latest Toyota Yaris 1.3 petrol car, fitted with He-man dual controls and air conditioning.
A minimum of a 2 hour lesson each week is generally considered to be the best way to learn to drive, however 1½ hour lessons are also available if this suits your availability or financial constraints. It is worth noting that at present the national average of tuition hours needed to pass your test is 50-60 hours (or 40-45 hours if you’re able to practice between your lessons).
When you sign up with City Driving Academy you will receive your Personal Record Book which you bring to each lesson. This helps both you and your instructor to monitor your progress and to focus the lessons around areas of your drive you need to work on.
You will need to bring your provisional license with you to your first lesson (both the photocard and counterpart). The D1 form to apply for a provisional license is available from the Post Office.
On your first lesson you will also be asked to read a number plate from 20m to check your eyesight meets the legal requirement.
