Driving Lessons

City Driving Academy provides structured driving lessons to suit all ages and abilities, offering clear instruction and guidance from being a beginner right through to refresher lessons, motorways and pass plus.  Lessons are available on week days, evenings or weekends.

City Driving Academy recommends you take at least 2 hours of driving lessons per week as this has been shown to be the best way to learn to drive. A more intensive course is available to those of you who wish to pass fast and get behind the wheel of your own car as soon as possible.

Each driving lesson is guaranteed to be:-

Relaxed and enjoyable with a skilled and experienced driving instructor

1:1 tuition for the full lesson time of 1 ½ or 2 hours

In the new Toyota Yaris or the new Vauxhall Corsa cdti fitted with dual controls and air-conditioning

Based on up-to-date teaching methods with clear and helpful instruction, giving honest feedback to help you develop your driving skills during each session

Value for money getting you closer to passing your driving test

With the use of a record book to monitor progress and to give helpful hints for any private practice between lessons

What must I do before I start learning to drive?

Licence

Make sure you have a valid provisional driving licence (the D1 form can be obtained from the Post Office) and this must be presented to your driving instructor on your first lesson otherwise your lesson will be cancelled.

Health

Make sure you are in good health and, if on any medication, please contact your doctor to ensure that you are allowed to drive.

Eyesight

Make sure you get your eyesight checked out. On your first lesson your driving instructor will ask you to read a number plate from 20.5m (with glasses if needed) as this is the legal requirement to drive.

Pupils who have passed with City Driving Academy

“I hadn’t had a driving lesson for 10 years so felt really nervous getting back behind the wheel of a car. I wanted a female driving instructor and Kathryn was really encouraging and helped me improve without rushing me. In the end I passed first time, sooner than I’d thought, and now I can take my children to school and still get to work for 9! It’s made life so much easier now I can drive!”  Rebecca, West Bridgford

“I really needed to pass my test before I finished University so it was helpful when Kathryn could give me a clear assessment of how many hours I needed to pass. She was able to offer me an intensive course and I passed my test a week before I left Nottingham – it was such a relief and I even came back to Nottingham to take my pass plus with her which was definitely worth it as I now do quite a bit of motorway driving in my new job.”  John, Lenton

“I would definitely recommend City Driving Academy. Kathryn really took the time to explain things properly and even when I still didn’t get the hang of it she was patient with me, especially with my manoeuvres! I passed second time and I’m sure I’m a much better driver now.”  Pete, Sherwood
